Key Matchup: Leonard vs Durant:

In what should be one of the best matchups of the entire NBA playoffs we get to see the NBA’s best defender go against the NBA’s best scorer. Leonard is a dominant defender who has become so good that teams are actually putting his man away from the action to help attack his teammates and not allow him to help out. For the Warriors they will need a healthy and effective Durant as he has had injury problems already in this postseason. His ability to shoot and get to the rim will help open the floor for Golden State’s shooters to get good looks.

X-Factor for Warriors: Draymond Green:

The Warriors defense is a big reason why they are such a dominant force and the anchor behind the defense is Green. His ability to guard any position on the floor, read opposing defenses, as well as ignite his team through key plays such as blocks is nearly impossible to overlook. Hes the best defender on the Warriors and so far this postseason he is shooting over 50 percent from three. If he continues this pace the Warriors look unbeatable.

X-Factor for Spurs: Kawhi Leonard:

Leonard went down with an ankle injury in game 5 of the Rockets series and did not play in game 6. If the Spurs want to pull the upset not only will they need him but they will need him to play at the level he was playing at before the injury. Should he show any signs of his injury lingering then the Spurs will have little to no shot at beating Golden State.

Analysis: Even though they met 3 times in the regular season it feels like we never really saw the Warriors and Spurs play. In 2 of the games key players were missing for both teams and in the first game they played the Warriors didn’t look good as Durant had not become integrated in their season. The Warriors have swept their first two opponents in dominant fashion while the Spurs have went to 6 games in both of theirs. Golden State looks like they are above the entire league with how good they are playing and should they dominate this series then it’ll be hard to see the Eastern Conference champion stopping them from the title. The Spurs meanwhile still have Popovich has their head coach and because he is the NBA’s best, you should never fully count out the Spurs.

Prediction: Warriors over Spurs in 6.
